Open Question: Dental Indemnity Plans?

Does anyone have experience dealing with this type of dental insurance (Dental Indemnity Plans)? How does it differ from regular dental insurance?

My health insurance offers it as an option, and it looks attractive to me because it allows me to go to any dentist, not just ones in their "network". However, the annual cap is $1000. The premiums end up being about $500 anyway, and I am wondering about how much of a hassle they give to people when claims are submitted. Is it even worth it?

Knowing that birth control is never 100% effective and carries horrible health risks and does not protect against many incurable STD's, some of which cause cervical cancer, safe sex seems a lie. What is so important that allows us to ruin women's lives based on media fueled mis-truths other than corporate greed?
I ask this question because of a Consumers Report a few years back that indicated, by the manufacturers best estimates, condoms are only effective 85% of the time due to inherent voids, storage problems and incorrect use. It's Russian Roulette at best and if you do the math, over a short time you are 100% screwed (pardon the pun).

New viral STD's are in fact smaller than voids that exist naturally in all popular latex condoms (from info given my daughter at public HS) - so condoms are never ever safe unless its a one shot deal and having sex is more important that getting sick for life. They are better than nothing - but that's it!
